Inspiration from a Kleenex box

Today you are going to learn something new about me. I can be like Martha Stewart sometimes in the way I like things to match. I had horrible allergies this spring and was using tissues all day long. I needed a box to have in the car. I was shopping at Wal-Mart and had to pick a decorative Kleenex box to match my car. My car is dark gray with a medium gray interior. This box looks amazing in my car. I was on my way to my mother's last night I glanced over looking at the box on the seat. I thought to myself what a great color combination for a card - gray, denim, light & dark blue, turquoise, and pale yellow. My mind started working.

I was lucky enough to get my hands on Fiskars new Threading Water punch. I used that on the edge of this card and layered a narrow piece of pale yellow cardstock behind it. The leaves were done with my Sizzix. I cut out the leaves from dark cardstock first for the background shadow and then cut them on light blue and used the diecut to layer over the background. The patterned denim paper (Hot Off The Press) I've had for like 5-6 years and never used. It finally came in handy! The flowers are from Prima and Bazzill with a button in the center from Doodlebug. The cardstock is from my favorite company, Stampin' Up! Their cardstock is by far, the best I've ever used.

I hope your weekend was fun and you had time to create.

Take care and God bless!

Back from CKC Buffalo!

Hello all! I had a great time in Buffalo today at CKC. Very fun!!! I took a class sponsored by Paper Crafts Magazine called Pocket Full of Cards. The class taught how to incorporate pockets in your cards. Very clever, let me tell you! Here is a peak at one of the cards we made.

I would love to share more, but I'm exhausted. When I got home, my husband was spreading woodchips and had to leave for work. He wasn't done and it's supposed to rain tonight. Guess who got to finish? ME! I am not a fan of gardening work whatsoever. I'm already starting to feel sore. More tomorrow!

Oh, have you noticed anything different on my blog??? It has to do with my announcement I mentioned the other day. I'll tell you tomorrow.

Good night!

My baby!

I got my pictures back yesterday of my baby that were taken a few weeks ago. He's growing up fast!!! I still like to call him my baby even though he is a full blown toddler.

We are going to visit family this weekend and he'll have a blast playing with his 5 & 3 year old cousins. I'm sure it will give me lots of scrapbooking material!

Have a wonderful holiday weekend & I'll be back next week.

Be safe and God bless!

Camping with Riley

Good morning! One more day until the long weekend. I can't wait! I am going to visit family over the weekend. It should be a lot of fun and the weather is looking good.

I had some leftovers from my layout I posted the other day so I thought the paper would work perfect with this Riley stamp. I may use this card for a Father's Day card. We have a firepit in our backyard that we love to sit around and roast marshmallos. I love the burned ones! How about you?

Have a super day! God bless!

I got a little monkey on the mind!

My husband drives me crazy from time to time. Men and women are so different! All in all, I do love him. I am always making cards for other people and he kinda gets left out. Not tomorrow! I am going to leave this for him on his desk tomorrow morning. The front reads "always on my mind" and inside "forever in my heart". I think he'll appreciate it especially since we haven't been on the best of terms this week.

The stamps are Changito from Stampendous and phrase from SU! Always. Punches are SU! Patterned paper from Reminisce. The card size is a little one, 3 x 3.75. Cards come in all shapes and sizes so try playing around with different dimensions!

I hope your week is going well! Enjoy!

Camping for Kids

Every summer, my husband & I donate a week of our time to be assistant directors of Royal Family Kids Camp. It's a weeklong camp for abused or neglected children in the foster care system. We are lucky enough to be able to bring our son with us! The first year with Brandon was rough - lots of crying and little sleep. Last year was his 2nd year. As you can see from the layout, he did a lot better.

I hope your weekend was fantastic! It's been cold and rainy here which gave me the perfect excuse to finish this layout. Like I need an excuse!!!

Graduation Time - Celebrate Life!

Happy Saturday! I hope your weekend is going nice and slow. Don't you hate how the week can just drag and then you finally get to the weekend and it flies? You gotta make the most of your time off.

We have a graduation coming up that I needed a card for. I decided to use Beate's WSC #48 to make this card. I love the layout she provided. I used all Basic Grey (Blush) patterned paper for this. The stamp goes perfectly with this paper. It's from Art Impressions. The brad is from Making Memories. I used Colorbox Chalk Cat's Eye's to ink the edges and distress the paper a little more. I think it will make a nice graduation card for our friends daughter.

More tomorrow!

Happy Birthday!

My big sister is 40 today! Happy Birthday Heidi! I sent her this card, but couldn't post it until she got it.

I used all kinds of stuff to make this card. The stamps are Stampendous and Studio G. The paper is from Pebbles Inc, Making Memories brads, and the paperclip is from Doodlebug. I think that covers everything. On the inside I stamped "40" in large number stamps from Autumn Leaves.

I am falling more and more in love with clear stamps. I think the quality of them is getting better as far a stamping a crisp image, and the storage of them is so easy and takes up less room.

Hope your day is going well!

What's the buzz word?

Stampendous Bee's!
Aren't they cute? I made this little notepad to use as a grocery or to-do list and attached a magnet to the back so it could go on the refrigerator. It's so easy to make. I layered yellow & black cardstock on the back of the little notepad. Then I cut a strip of yellow & black to layer on top and glued it to the binding part of the pad. I did run the black piece of cardstock through my Sizzix with the Cuttlebug Swiss Dots folder. It just added a little texture to it. Then I stamped and colored the bee's and layered them on cardstock. Very fun and quick & easy!

American Idol tonight! Who is going home??? I think the finale will end up being the two David's. What do you think?

Have a good one!

Happy Mother's Day!

I hope you are having a wonderful Mother's Day! You deserve it, especially if you are a mom.

Brandon painted me the cutest little birdhouse at his sitters. He was so excited for me to open it. My sitter said he spent an hour painting it! For a 2 yr old, an hour is a long time to work on a project. He just loves to paint.

I've only been a mother for two years now and it's the most challenging and rewarding job there is. One day you feel like you are totally screwing this child up, and the next they are hugging you and telling you they love you and you think to yourself that you're doing ok. I definitely thought before I had kids that it was going to be a breeze. I grew up wanting 6 kids! Today, I can't imagine more than one. Maybe I'd have another if I didn't have to work full-time. It's really hard being a mom today. You have so many hats to wear in a given day. Hats off to all moms today!

I had a little time today to do Beate's Weekend Sketch Challenge. I dug out an old paper pad I had from K & Company - Brenda Walton. It's so soft & pretty looking. You know me, I love anything floral. I took the saying from SU! Friendship Blooms set. The little pearls are so cool. They are flat on one side and have adhesive on them. I got them when I went to Archivers. They are by Mark Richards.

I hope you had a wonderful weekend and had some time to create!

God bless!

Cousins at play

Hello! Aren't you glad it's the weekend? I took Brandon to JCPenny for pictures today. They turned out so cute! I can't wait to get them back in a couple weeks.

I finished this layout today that I started last weekend. The paper is perfect for summertime photos. It's "The Bug Collection" by The Paper Lady Inc. I cut the paper into 3 panels for each side and layered them over black cardstock to really make the colors pop. The round metal pinch tabs are from Karen Foster. They match this perfectly.

The pictures are from last May, right around this time. It was the first time my son went to visit his cousins house in Indiana. They had so much fun playing together.

Let me know if you have any Mother's Day plans for this weekend!

My Blog Has A New Look!

So what do you think of my new banner? A little more exciting, isn't it? Thank you Denise at http://geekgirl415.com/. She is awesome!!!

Speaking of awesome people, my good friend Jan recently went to the Vera Bradley Trunk Show in Indy. She was kind enough to take my order and brought me back some goodies for myself and another friend of mine. I made her this thank you card I'm sending out tomorrow. I just can't get enough of these Changito's. I want them all!!! Anyways, Jan has a heart of gold and I appreciate her kindness. She is the regional director of Make-A-Wish Foundation here in Erie. The stories she tells about her work are so heartwarming.

Thank goodness tomorrow is Friday! I am taking my son for some updated pictures on Saturday. He's coming up on 2 1/2. Where does the time go? I took this picture yesterday while we were playing outside. He looks so grown up!

Have a wonderful Friday and I'll be posting stuff this weekend! Check back soon or subscribe to my blog to get notified when I update my blog!!

Altered Tin - Happy Day!

Gotta love this tin and it was only $1!!! Go to Michael's and they have them in all different color combinations for only $1. You can fill it with all kinds of stuff - candy, a couple cookies, tea bags, push pins, binder clips, etc. The possibilities are endless!

I used Love & Happiness rub-ons from SU! Very quick and easy. Then I just layered Prima & Bazzill flowers on top and secured it with a jumbo silver brad from American Crafts. To make it all coordinate, I added a flower rub-on flower in the center of the brad. You could even stamp a saying on these tins with Stazon ink if you wanted. I also debated using ribbon too. Again, the possibilities with these are endless. I bought 3 of them at the time, so keep checking back to see what I do with the others.

I'm working on some scrapbook pages with some really fun paper! I hope to finish it soon and then of course show you! Fun, fun, fun!

Have a good evening. God bless!

Beate's Weekend Sketch WSC #46

Isn't this paper fun?!? It's the Cupcake collection from Basic Grey. It's perfect for birthday cards! Speaking of cupcakes, have you noticed how popular cupcakes are right now? I have an adorable clear set of cupcake stamps that I love. I'll post a card showing off that set soon.

I made this card for Beate's WSC #46. I didn't have a lot of time to work on it, so this fun and busy paper worked out well. I used rub-ons from Karen Foster to make it a birthday card.

Hope you had a great weekend! I need to go clean the house. No fun!

Happy National Scrapbooking Day!

So how are you spending your holiday today?

This morning, since it's a rainy day, I took Brandon to the local Children's Museum. It is awesome! It was my first time there. We spent the morning there and then went to McD's for lunch. He had a blast!

This afternoon I dug out some of my goodies from Archivers I bought a few weeks ago. I bought these awesome mini blank clipboards where the clip is totally removable! I also bought this really cool clear stamp set. I am not a big fan of big stamps, but this one was way too much fun to pass up. I created this mini clipboard to hang up at work. I have a ton of more ideas to do with both these products! I just need time. I am a very slow crafter. I think about things too much sometimes and re-do stuff a lot!

I hope your scrapbooking day is wonderful and that you are always having fun creating! That is what it's all about. Check out your local scrapbook stores or online stores for some great deals this weekend.

Happy National Scrapbooking Day!

The Craft Cave!

Happy Friday! Thank goodness it's Friday!!!!
Here are some pictures of what my work area looks like! I posted that hallway picture again to show you what it looks like around the left corner when you walk in. My family calls this room "The Craft Cave" because it's hidden and where I like to hide! I sit facing a large bay window with a window seat in front of it. I will take some more detailed photos this weekend to show you. I have some cool things and organizational tips.
Have a super day!

Rough Day

This week has not been the greatest, especially yesterday. I made a really stupid mistake at work but it turned out ok. Then Brandon, my two year old, cried all the way home from the sitters because he wanted to eat another yogurt there. At age 2, everything is such a big deal! Then I get home and the husband gets mad at me. Ever feel like you can't win????

So I buried myself in my craft room and made this. Very simple, but it's the best I could do at the time. It looks better in person. I still need to brush up on my photo editing skills. Anyways, the recipe is Doodlebug buttons and Stampin Up! rub-ons. I used thread for the bow to just keep it soft like the rub-ons. The paper is scraps from my stash I pieced together.

Today will hopefully be better. Have a great one!
